Editorial Board

The Editorial Board of the Publishing House for the 2020–2024 term was established pursuant to Zarządzenia No. 81/R/24 of the Rector of the University of Gdańsk of 2 September 2024 on the establishment of the Editorial Board of the Publishing House of the University of Gdańsk for the 2024–2028 term. The competences and principles of appointing the Publishing House Editorial Board are regulated by § 4 of the Regulations of the University of Gdańsk Publishing House, according to which:

  1. The Editorial Board, composed of at least 3 people, is appointed by the Rector from among academic teachers employed at the University of Gdańsk with outstanding publication achievements.
  2. The work of the College is directed by the Director.
  3. The College’s task is to:
    • ensuring the achievement of high publishing standards and ensuring the efficient implementation of the Publishing House’s strategy;
    • substantive evaluation of publications submitted to the Publishing House;
    • conducting the process of qualifying a work for publication;
    • making decisions on co-financing the publication of academic textbooks and monographs constituting habilitation dissertations.

historian, professor at the Department of Medieval Polish History and Auxiliary Sciences of History at the Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk, specialist in medieval Gdańsk, the Jagiellonian dynasty and the Hanseatic League. She deals with economic and social history, especially the situation of women in the Middle Ages. Author of numerous historical monographs, scientific editor of volumes published by Routledge (2017 and 2021). Director of the Centre for Memling Research at the University of Gdańsk, president of the Uphagen House Society, vice-chairwoman of the Museum Council at the Malbork Castle Museum (2019–2023), member of the presidium of the Commission on Historical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2020–2023), as well as since 2019 the international MECERN Committee (Medieval Central European Research Network) and the Gedanopedia Knowledge Committee, since 2021. corresponding member of the Centre for Medieval Studies in Prague (Centre for Medieval Studies).

habilitated doctor of economics, professor at the University of Gdańsk, Head of the Department of International Business at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk, Member of the Editorial Board of the University of Gdańsk Publishing House for the 2024–2028 term. Specializes in the topics of international competitiveness, internationalization of enterprises, brand and product management.

profesor socjologii, prodziekan ds. badań naukowych i współpracy międzynarodowej, kierownik Zakładu Socjologii Sportu i Zdrowia, członek Rady Dyscyplin Nauk Socjologicznych na Uniwersytecie Gdańskim. Jego naukowe zainteresowania koncentrują się wokół socjologii sportu, football studies, a także problematyki związanej z męskością. Laureat UEFA Research Grant Programme. Publikacje jego autorstwa ukazywały się w czasopismach o międzynarodowym zasięgu, takich jak “International Review for the Sociology of Sport”, “Sport in Society”, “Soccer & Society” oraz “Sociology of Sport Journal”. W ostatnim czasie jego książki były wydawane przez wydawnictwa takie jak Manchester University Press, Palgrave i Routledge.

Romanist, professor at the Department of Romance Literatures at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Gdańsk, head of Doctoral Studies, essayist and translator. Author of books „Isn't it over yet?” (2009), „Stories of the Eye. Bataille, Leiris, Artaud, Blanchot” (2010), „Histoires de l'œil” (2013) and „Repetition and Difference. Sketches from translation criticism” (2014). Winner of the „Literature in the World” award for translation and the Andrzej Siemek Award for „Stories of the Eye”. Specialist in modern Polish and French literature. He translated into Polish, among others: Baudelaire, Nerval, Bataille, Leiris, Sartre, Barthes, Caillois, Starobinski, Didi-Huberman and Le Corbusier, as well as the Ariol comic book series. Member of the jury of the Gdynia Literary Award.

lawyer, university professor at the Department of Theory and Philosophy of State and Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk, vice-chairman of the International Association of Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR), expert on research ethics at the European Commission. He specializes in legal philosophy, legal theory, biomedical law and international law.
