Ryszard Nowicki

Prof. Dr. hab., historian, bibliologist. An employee of the Casimir the Great University in Bydgoszcz was a professor at the University of Białystok. He published, among others: „Skórzewscy, owners of the Łabiszyn estate. The role in the socio-political life of the landed gentry, Toruń 2002; „Aleksander Birkenmajer’s activities for the protection of library collections. Lands of western and northern Poland in the years 1946-1947”, Poznań 2006 (Adam Łysakowski Scientific Award of the Main Board of the Association of Polish Librarians, Warsaw 2007); „Post-war protection of library collections in Poland in the years 1944-1955. Selected sources”, Bydgoszcz 2013; „Maria, Duchess of Ogińska”, „My diaries”, edited, introduced and noted by R. Nowicki, Poznań 2019. He conducted scientific research in Australia in 2008, related to the history of Polish diplomacy and Polish exile, concerning the Skórzewski family („Count Skórzewski’s search for a place on earth. Australia Travel Journal”, Bydgoszcz 2010). In the years 2012-2015 he completed a grant from the National Science Centre, which resulted in the publication of a monograph „The role of the Katowice Collection of Secured Book Collections in the post-war protection of library collections in Poland”, Bydgoszcz 2010 (Special Award in the Competition for the Best Academic Book of 2015, during the 19th Poznań Days of Books, not only Scientific, Poznań, November 4-6, 2015). Originator and organizer of national scientific conferences Protection of Library Collections. Past-Present-Future (Bydgoszcz 2016 and 2018). Scholar of the Mayor of Bydgoszcz in 2021
