Józef Bachórz

Professor of humanities, Polish philologist specializing in the history of 19th-century Polish literature, especially positivism; in the 1990s member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences; until 2000 employed at the Institute of Polish Philology, University of Gdańsk; winner of the Jan Heweliusz Scientific Award of the City of Gdańsk (2004); author of numerous books, known for his critical editions of Bolesław Prus’s The Doll and Eliza Orzeszkowa’s On the Niemen.
