(1941–2008) Prof. Dr. hab. of legal sciences, expert in the law of monument protection, cultural heritage and the organization of science. Long-time employee of the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, bibliophile, collector of old gramophones. Member of the Scientific Council of the PP Monument Conservation Workshop, the Monument Protection Council at the Minister of Culture and Art, collaborator with the Office of the Government Plenipotentiary for Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad. Rapporteur-General of the UNESCO conference on the return of works of art, expert of the government delegation to the conference on the adoption of the UNIDROIT convention on stolen or illegally exported cultural property. Author of almost 400 publications, including the monograph Polish Cultural Heritage, Its Losses and Legal Protection (vol. 1–2, Zakamycze, Kraków 2001). He was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit, the Silver Medal „Gloria Artis for Merit to Culture” and the medal „For Merit to Culture in the Polish Army”.
