Editorial Council

The Editorial Council of the Press for 2020-2024 was appointed pursuant to Zarządzenia nr 121/R/21 Rektora Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego z dnia 27 sierpnia 2021 r (decree no. 121/R/21 of the Rector of the University of Gdańsk dated 27 August 2021). The responsibilities and principles of the appointment of the Editorial Council of the Press are regulated by § 4 of the Regulations of the University of Gdańsk Press, in accordance with which:

1. The Editorial Council consisting of a minimum of three persons is appointed by the Rector from among academic faculty employed at the University of Gdańsk who have a distinguished record of publications.

2. The Director oversees the work of the Council.

3. The Council is charged with:

o maintaining high publishing standards and ensuring effective implementation of the Press’s strategy;

o evaluating the content of proposed publications submitted to the Press;

o conducting the process of evaluating submissions to the Press with a view to their publication;

o making decisions regarding partial funding of academic handbooks and mono-graphs that are post-doctoral dissertations.

Assoc. Prof. JOANNA BEDNARZ, DSc

habilitated doctor of economic sciences, university professor, Head of the Department of International Business at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk, Chair of the Scientific Council at the Polish Economic Society, Gdańsk branch, certified Design Thinking moderator, and tutor. She specializes in international competitiveness, business internationalization, brand management, and product management.

Assoc. Prof. RADOSŁAW KOSSAKOWSKI, DSc

radoslaw.kossakowski@ug.edu.pl

professor of sociology, Vice-Dean for Research and International Cooperation, Head of the Department of Sociology of Sport and Health, and member of the Scientific Discipline Council of Sociology at the University of Gdańsk. His research interests focus on the sociology of sport, football studies, and issues related to masculinity. He is a laureate of the UEFA Research Grant Programme. His publications have appeared in international journals such as “International Review for the Sociology of Sport”, “Sport in Society”, “Soccer & Society”, and “Sociology of Sport Journal”. Recently, his books have been published by Manchester University Press, Palgrave, and Routledge.

Prof. BEATA MOŻEJKO

historian. Professor in the Department of Polish Medieval History and Auxiliary Sciences in the Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk. Specialist in medieval Gdańsk, the Jagiellon dynasty, and the Hanseatic League. Her work focuses on economic and social history, especially the situation of women in the Middle Ages. She is author or co-author of many monographs, more than 130 articles, and she is editor of volumes published by Routledge (2017 and 20201). President of the Association of the Uphagen House, Vice-president of the Board of the Castle Museum in Malbork (2019-2023), member of the Presidium of the Commission for History of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2020-2023), and from 2019 a member of the International Committee MECERN (Medieval Central Research Network) and the Committee of Gedanopedia. Since 2021, she has been a corresponding member of the Centre for Medieval Studies in Prague.

Assoc. Prof. TOMASZ SWOBODA, DSc

romanist, professor at the Department of Romance Literatures at the Faculty of Philology, University of Gdańsk, director of Doctoral Studies, essayist, and translator. Author of books such as “To jeszcze nie koniec?” (2009), “Historie oka. Bataille, Leiris, Artaud, Blanchot” (2010), “Histoires de l’œil” (2013), and “Powtórzenie i różnica. Szkice z krytyki przekładu” (2014). Winner of the “Literatura na świecie” Award for translation and the Andrzej Siemek Award for “Historie oka”. Specialist in modern Polish and French literature. He has translated works by Baudelaire, Nerval, Bataille, Leiris, Sartre, Barthes, Caillois, Starobinski, Didi-Huberman, and Le Corbusier into Polish, as well as the Ariol comic series. Member of the Gdynia Literary Award committee.

 

Assoc. Prof. TOMASZ WIDŁAK, DSc

lawyer, university professor in the Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdańsk, Vice-President of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR), and expert on research ethics at the European Commission. He specializes in legal philosophy, legal theory, biomedical law, and international law.
