A graduate of the Faculty of Navigation and Ship Armament of the Naval Academy and the Faculty of Humanities (Polish Philology) of the University of Gdańsk. Professor at the University of Gdańsk, long-time head, currently an employee of the Department of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Culture at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Gdańsk. Co-founder of the Polish Aesthetic Society, member of: Gdańsk Scientific Society, Polish Society of Religious Studies, American Society for Aesthetics, International Association for Aesthetics. He is also a member of the Scientific Council of the journal „Contemporary Culture” and the Advisory Board „Estetika. The European Journal of Aesthetics”.
