Bogusław Żyłko

Professor emeritus of the University of Gdańsk, full professor at the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź. He deals with cultural semiotics, Russian aesthetic doctrines of the 20th century, and the scientific and philosophical works of Mikhail Bakhtin (he translated his treatise Towards a philosophy of action), history of ideas. Author of numerous translations of Russian humanities from this period, including his own translation and editing of several volumes of works by semioticians from the Tartu-Moscow group. He is also devoted to making the works of the philosopher-phenomenologist of Polish origin Gustaw Szpet available to the Polish philosophical community, publishing his works in his translation: Internal form of the word (2013), Phenomenon and sense (2018), Introduction to Ethnic Psychology (2024). He is currently working on a book about the intellectual Eastern fascinations of Czesław Miłosz.
