A Historical Atlas of Gdańsk is part of the series entitled A Historical Atlas of Polish Towns. It is the ninth book of the first volume, Royal Prussia and Warmia and it is edited by Wiesław Długokęcki.
A Historical Atlas of Gdańsk consists of a discussion of the spatial-functional development of the city from the thirteenth through to the twentieth century, both in terms of individual epochs (Gdańsk up to 1308, and 1308–1454, 1454–1815, 1815–1945, and 1945–1989), and also in selected periods (1454– 1460, 1660, 1807, 1866), reconstructions of city plans in specific years, based on the cadastral plan by Daniel Buhse from the years 1866–1869, a plan showing spatial development, discussions of particular issues (social topography, fortifications, defortification, views, the Radunia Canal, and water supply), and reproductions of city plans, panoramas, city views, and photographs, or selected parts of those.
