University Bookstore

On May 23, 2022, at the Faculty of Social Sciences, we opened the University Bookstore — a new meeting place not only for students and academics of the University of Gdańsk, but also for everyone from outside the university who wants a good read, delicious coffee and a friendly atmosphere. Here you can purchase books published by the University of Gdańsk Publishing House and other scientific, popular science and literary publishing houses. The new space also hosts author meetings promoting publications by the University of Gdańsk Publishing House, and the wide stairs with electrical sockets are an ideal place for work or relaxation.

The café section of the bookstore, run by the owners of the small café Chałupka Wejherowo, i.e. Książka i Kawą, treats guests to the scents of teas and coffees brewed from beans from the best roasters in Poland. Lovers of these drinks can choose from a variety of teas and black and white coffees, brewed in a flask or drip coffee maker. There is also no shortage of snacks for sweet and savory: from breakfast smoothies and granola options, through sandwiches, to cakes.

We love books

We strongly believe that in the era of the Internet, the dissemination of e-books and forms of accessibility on an open access basis, these tangible, printed publications are still unrivaled and have something in them that will never be replaced by an electronic file. That’s why we want to surround ourselves with them and hope that the space that will almost be made of books will also influence visitors in such a way that they will succumb to the charm of these traditional books and want to take them into their homes.

Not just books

For those looking not only for books, the bookstore also offers original promotional gadgets related to the University of Gdańsk. Here you will buy mugs, notebooks, bags and many other things that can be both a good gift and a souvenir for visitors to our campus.

We are open to you and to you

We want our readers and guests to create this place with us, participating in events organized here, posting short reviews and recommendations about the books offered in the bookstore, and even submitting their ideas and suggestions for the offer.
