In our mission, we implement the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics COPE (www.publicationethics.org). The adopted principles of publishing ethics apply to all publications, including monographs, collective works, publishing series and scientific journals published by the University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t<hr>\n\t<h2>ETHICAL PRINCIPLES BINDING THE PUBLISHER, EDITORIAL BOARD OF THE PUBLISHING HOUSE, SCIENTIFIC EDITORS AND JOURNAL EDITORIAL OFFICES<\/h2>\n\t<h3>Controlling ethical standards<\/h3>\n\t<p>University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House is obliged to comply with applicable principles of publishing ethics and publishing standards and to prevent practices contrary to current legal provisions concerning copyright, personal data protection, defamation, plagiarism, <em>guest authorship<\/em> and <em>ghostwriting<\/em> practices.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of fair play<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>Submitted works are evaluated solely on substantive grounds. Race, gender, religion, nationality, and political beliefs of authors do not in any way affect the evaluation of texts.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Publishing decisions \u2013 criteria for accepting works for publication<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The publisher decides which works will be published, based on reviewer opinions regarding the value, originality and scientific clarity of the work.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of confidentiality<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House does not disclose any information about submitted works to unauthorized persons. Persons authorized to possess this information are: the publisher, editors, author, designated reviewers, members of the Editorial Board and other authorized persons participating in the publishing process.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Counteracting and disclosing conflicts of interest<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>Unpublished texts may not be used by any person participating in the publishing process without the written consent of the authors.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Verification of already published works and withdrawal of publications<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House has the right to withdraw a work both during the publication procedure and after publication, if:<\/p>\n\t<ul>\n\t\t<li>it is revealed that the work bears signs of plagiarism or violates other principles of publishing ethics (including self-plagiarism, ghostwriting, guest authorship),<\/li>\n\t\t<li>evidence is revealed indicating lack of reliability of research results, data falsification, or serious unintended errors (e.g. methodological or computational).<\/li>\n\t<\/ul>\n\t<hr>\n\t<h2>ETHICAL PRINCIPLES BINDING AUTHORS<\/h2>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of scientific integrity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The author is obliged to conduct, present and objectively interpret their scientific research in a reliable manner. The work should contain information enabling the identification of data sources, verification of the presented research problem and repetition of studies. Unreliable or unethical presentation\/interpretation of data and research results is unacceptable.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of originality of work<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The author certifies that the submitted publication is entirely their original creative work, that they possess exclusive and unlimited copyright and personal rights to the publication and that it does not violate any personal or property rights of third parties. The author&#8217;s statement on originality is an integral part of the publishing agreement.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of avoiding duplicate, redundant or parallel publication<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>Submitting a work for publication to University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House is synonymous with declaring that the submitted text has not been published elsewhere before, is not a fragment of another publication and is not submitted to another publisher.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Sources of publication financing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The author provides University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House with information about the sources of financing the submitted work, the contribution of research institutions, associations and other entities (<em>financial disclosure<\/em>).<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principles of work authorship<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>When submitting co-authored works for publication, the contribution of individual authors to their creation must be disclosed.<br>Omitting in the publication persons who contributed to the creation of texts (<em>ghostwriting<\/em>) is unacceptable.<br>Indicating the participation of an author whose contribution is negligible or did not occur (<em>guest authorship<\/em>) is unacceptable.<br>All authors must approve the final version of the work and give consent for its publication.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of source integrity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>All publications, research results or data developed by other authors used in the creation of the work must be accompanied by a footnote and listed in the bibliography.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principles concerning errors in published works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The author should promptly notify University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House of any errors\/inaccuracies discovered in their publication. University of Gda\u0144sk Publishing House will correct any errors in the next edition\/reprint or publish an erratum, annex or correction.<\/p>\n\t<hr>\n\t<h2>ETHICAL PRINCIPLES BINDING REVIEWERS<\/h2>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of counteracting conflict of interest<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>A reviewer should not undertake to evaluate a work in the event that a conflict of interest with the author(s) of the work or institutions involved in its creation may occur. Any potential conflict of interest should be reported to the publisher or (in the case of journals) the appropriate editorial office.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of timeliness<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The reviewer is obliged to prepare a review within the agreed deadline. The reviewer should promptly inform the publisher or the appropriate journal editorial office of any delay or failure to complete the review.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of confidentiality<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The reviewer is obliged to maintain confidentiality with respect to the evaluation process, the content of the reviewed work and the evaluation. Disclosure of the reviewed work and its evaluation to unauthorized persons is unacceptable. Research results contained in a work submitted for publication may not be used by the reviewer in their own research until the article is published.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of maintaining objectivity standards<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The review should be objective, reliable, impartial and properly justified. The reviewer&#8217;s evaluation covers: the substantive content of the work, the originality and validity of the research undertaken and theses presented, methodology, correctness of conclusions formulated, language, style and manner of preparation of footnotes and bibliography. Non-substantive criticism of the author is unacceptable.<\/p>\n\t<h3><strong>Principle of source integrity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\t<p>The reviewer should disclose all instances that indicate suspicion of using other authors&#8217; publications in the reviewed work. Fragments of the work text that raise doubts should be clearly indicated.
